Ningura was born in 1938 at Watulka near Kiwirrkura. She married the late Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi and moved with him to Papunya. In 1996, along with a group of elderly women, Ningura began painting for Papunya Tula Artists and participated in their initial exhibition. Since that time she has featured in numerous group exhibitions around the nation. Her success as an artist was acknowledged by her participation in a collaborative work which was included in the ' Genesis and Genius` exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney, 2000.The same year she also had her first solo exhibition with William Mora Aboriginal Art in Melbourne.
